Community Guidelines

Everything we do at NGA is guided by these principles:

• Respect: we treat every member with dignity, regardless of their background, experience level, or opinions
• Inclusion: we welcome all Arab and Arab-allied tech professionals and create space for diverse perspectives
• Growth: we encourage learning, mentorship, and honest professional exchange
• Authenticity: we celebrate our shared cultural heritage while embracing the diversity within our community
• Collaboration: we build together, not in competition — one person's success lifts everyone

As a member of NGA, we ask that you:

• Be welcoming and supportive to new members
• Listen actively and engage in good faith, especially when you disagree
• Share knowledge generously — mentorship and peer support are at the heart of our community
• Give credit where it is due and respect intellectual property
• Use inclusive language and be mindful of cultural and professional differences
• Respect people's time — be punctual to events, cancel RSVPs if you cannot attend, and keep messages on-topic
• Protect the privacy of other members — do not share personal information without consent

The following behaviors will not be tolerated in any NGA space:

• Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind — including unwelcome personal attention, threats, or sustained disruption
• Discrimination based on ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic
• Hate speech, slurs, or derogatory language
• Unsolicited recruiting, sales pitches, or spam — use designated channels for job postings and opportunities
• Sharing explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content
• Doxxing or sharing another person's private information without their explicit consent
• Deliberately misleading others about your identity, qualifications, or affiliations
• Any illegal activity or encouragement of illegal activity

When attending NGA events — whether in-person or online — additional expectations apply:

• Follow the instructions of event organizers and venue staff
• Be mindful of shared spaces and keep areas clean and accessible
• Photography and recording: assume that event photos may be shared on NGA channels unless otherwise stated. If you do not wish to be photographed, let an organizer know
• Alcohol may be served at some events — please drink responsibly and respect those who choose not to
• If an event has a waitlist, cancelling early helps someone else attend — please update your RSVP

Our Discord server is the primary communication hub for NGA. To keep it productive:

• Post in the appropriate channels — check channel descriptions before posting
• Keep discussions professional and constructive, even in casual channels
• Do not DM other members with unsolicited offers, pitches, or requests unless they have explicitly invited contact
• Use threads for extended conversations to keep channels readable
• Tag @moderators if you see something that violates these guidelines

If you experience or witness behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it. You can:

• Email us at info@nextgenarabs.com with a description of the incident
• Tag @moderators in our Discord server
• Speak directly to an event organizer at in-person events

All reports are treated confidentially. We will never share the identity of a reporter without their consent. We take every report seriously and will respond promptly.

Violations of these guidelines are handled on a case-by-case basis by the NGA team. Depending on the severity and frequency of the violation, consequences may include:

• A private warning and conversation about the behavior
• Temporary suspension from community channels or events
• Permanent removal from the NGA community
• In severe cases, reporting to relevant authorities

We aim to resolve issues through dialogue whenever possible. Our goal is to maintain a healthy community, not to punish.

By joining NGA and participating in our community, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to follow these guidelines. We believe these standards reflect the values our community was built on — mutual respect, shared ambition, and cultural pride.

These guidelines are a living document. We welcome feedback from members and may update them as our community grows. Changes will be communicated through our usual channels.
