NGA (NextGenArabs) is a community platform for Arab tech professionals, based in the Netherlands. For the purposes of applicable data protection law, the data controller is NGA Team, contactable at info@nextgenarabs.com.

We collect personal data that you voluntarily provide when you interact with our platform:

• Contact information: name, email address, country or city of residence
• Professional information: role or job title, company, LinkedIn profile URL, tech stack, short bio
• Profile photo (if you choose to upload one)
• Event participation: RSVP status, event preferences, feedback
• Communications: messages sent through our contact form, testimonials you submit
• Newsletter subscription: email address and subscription preferences

We also collect limited technical data automatically when you visit our site, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URL. See the Cookies section below for details.

We use the personal data we collect to:

• Process membership applications and manage your community profile
• Send you event invitations, community updates, and newsletters you have opted into
• Respond to your inquiries submitted through our contact form
• Display approved testimonials on our website (with your consent)
• Send notifications to our team about new applications, event capacity, and contact form submissions
• Improve our platform and understand how our community engages with our content

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process your data on the following bases:

• Consent: when you submit a contact form, apply for membership, subscribe to our newsletter, or submit a testimonial
• Legitimate interests: to operate and improve our community platform, send relevant community updates to active members, and ensure platform security
• Contract performance: when processing is necessary to provide you with community services you have requested

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following categories of service providers:

• Email delivery: Resend (for transactional and newsletter emails)
• Content management: Sanity.io (for managing community content)
• Community communication: Discord (for community chat and notifications)
• Hosting and infrastructure: Vercel (for website hosting)

Each provider processes data in accordance with their own privacy policy and our data processing agreements. Some providers may transfer data outside the European Economic Area (EEA); where they do, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses are in place.

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected:

• Membership data: retained for as long as you remain an active community member, and deleted within 12 months of your request to leave
• Contact form submissions: retained for up to 24 months
• Newsletter subscriptions: retained until you unsubscribe
• Event RSVP data: retained for up to 12 months after the event
• Testimonials: retained until you request removal

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erasure: ask us to delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restriction: ask us to restrict processing of your data
• Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Object: object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Withdraw consent: withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based

Our platform is not directed at individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at info@nextgenarabs.com and we will delete the data promptly.
